  • Abstract
A new triazine macromolecule was synthesized by using cyanuric chloride, ethnolamine and ethylenediamine. It is used as both a charring agent and a foaming agent in intumensect flame retardant, named as novel charring-foaming agent (CFA). CFA has a good ability of char formation itself. Effects of CFA on flame retardancy, thermal degradation and mechanical properties of intumescent flame retardant polyolefin including polyethylene, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and polypropylene have been investigated. The experimental results demonstrated that the mixture of CFA, APP and synergistic agent was a highly effective intumescent flame retadant (IFR) for polyolefin based upon limiting oxygen index (LOI) value, UL-94 rating and cone calorimeter data.
