Abstract :
This paper considers bounds on the performance of coded frequency-hop spread spectrum in partial-band interference. It is shown that the cutoff rate is overly pessimistic in its prediction of performance of a turbo-like code. However, the channel capacity is too optimistic and does not account for some limitations of the receiver. Gallager´s error exponent is used successfully in modeling the performance of turbo coded systems. This bound is used to predict performance as a function of hop size for receivers that use perfect knowledge of the channel state and those with no knowledge of the channel state. Results for clipping of the decoder inputs and quantization are also shown.
