Abstract :
Advantages offered by the freon immersion technique, especially applications for diesel electric locomotives, are described. Experimental data pertaining to recently developed freon modules which are used for cooling high-power semiconductors is presented. A procedure based on a well-known caloric method is used to determine the component losses for high-performance converter and inverter designs with calculated efficiency values higher than 98%.<>
