Abstract :
Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) has become an attractive technology of choice for Internet backbone service providers because of the support of traffic engineering and quality of service (QoS). At present, the rapid growth of real-time and high-priority traffic over IP networks makes QoS assurances will be more important for guaranteed services with requirements. This paper summarizes various protection and restoration schemes of MPLS networks survivability with QoS guarantees, including their QoS requirements, algorithms, applications, pros and cons. We still integrate the survivability schemes of MPLS networks with DiffServ model in order to choose different survivability methods with QoS guarantees for different service classes.
