Abstract
Recent advances in the use of programmable logic controllers for batch house control systems are discussed. All aspects of the batching operations, including unloading, weighing, mixing, and delivery, are covered. The discussion covers a weighing algorithm that provides the best possible accuracy with shortest possible weigh time; the use of pushbutton replacement terminals for the operator interface; the use of IBM PCs for data collection and inventory control; and interfacing of batching systems to a plantwide information and control network. These points are referenced to actual application results.<>
