Abstract :
Polyimide is a familiar kind of organic material for spacecraft. The deep charge of the spacecraft dielectric in the space radiation environment will eventually lead to multi-spectral impulsive discharge. The key factor that affects the dielectric charge is the conductivity of materials. The ideal situation should be that when lower charged, the dielectric presents a property of high insulation with low conductivity whereas when highly charged, the dielectric behaves a state of high conductivity, namely, ideal dielectric material should have a non-linear conductivity characteristic. With this characteristic, the dielectric can release dangerous charge with a manner of non-pulse. In this paper, the modification of the non-linear conductivity property for polyimide by a kind of voltage-sensitive additive was studied. The conductance property and other dielectric properties of pre and post modification and the influence of the content of the additive for conductance property of polyimide were also researched.
