Abstract :
Interfering signals may be a serious threat to wireless communication systems. Especially in military communications, the inherent immunity of spread spectrum systems may be inadequate and interference suppression (IS) methods are required. A good IS method should be effective and the computational complexity should be low. However, most of the existing methods are targeted to either suppress only specific types of interfering signals or have a high computational complexity. One possibility to obtain a low-complexity and efficient IS is to use several transform domains. Therein, a domain selection method is needed to decide in which domain the interfering signal is best excised. In this paper, two new transform domain selection methods are proposed and evaluated. The proposed methods are simple to implement and the computational complexities are relatively low. After selecting the proper domain, the interference excision is performed using the simple yet powerful forward consecutive mean excision (FCME) algorithm. Simulation results are presented to assess the benefits of the proposed methods. Simulations showed that one of the proposed methods provides good performance against all considered jamming signals
