Abstract :
This study attempts to explore Chinese students´ beliefs and attitude towards Computer Assisted language learning (CALL) and the difference in attitude and beliefs towards CALL between good language learners (GL) and poor language learners (PL). The author designed the questionnaire composed by two parts - CALL Belief and Information Input Channel and Load via computers and internet. 100 valid questionnaires were adopted. The results of questionnaire and CET4 scores were analyzed by SPSS 13.0. Descriptive statistics was obtained to see the overall patterns of students´ attitude and belief towards CALL. The differences in attitude and belief between GL and PL were examined by a Test. The major findings are: 1) most students are optimistic about the technology-based language learning. 2) Computer and internet can help learners process and understand English learning material better and faster. 3) No significant difference of learners´ attitude and beliefs towards CALL between GL and PL.
