Abstract :
A number of media access and routing protocols have been recently proposed for the use with such antennas, and have shown significant performance improvements over the Omni-directional case. This paper presents a novel MAC (Medium Access Control) protocols for nodes equipped with adaptive antenna array in ad hoc network. The protocol relies on the ability of antenna to use DOA (Direction-Of-Arrival) information to beamform by placing nulls in the direction of interferers thus maximizing SINR (Signal to Interference and noise ratio) at the receiver. In this work, we also compare the convergence of beam deflection towards a targeted receiver using the following four beamformers´. Matched Filter (MF), Minimum Variance Distortion less Response (MVDR), Minimum power distortion less response (MPDR), and Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE). Finally, we show that MVDR algorithm has a fast convergence beam with wide beam width towards the receiver which targets the neighbor´s transmitter node with maximum SNR. We perform Graphical User Interface (GUI) of MATLAB for an Adaptive Array Antenna Model to show the convergence of beam with their SNR for each scheme. We also compare the impulse response of MVDR vs. MPDR and the result shows that MVDR beamformer has higher impulse response than MPDR beamformer.
