  • Abstract
This paper mostly study a 220 KV suspension insulator string in the highway district and the highway-farmland district of South China, through periodic sampling of insulator surface dirt, analyzing contamination degree and contamination components on insulators of different topography, taking further analysis of impacts of different contamination components on ESDD, NSDD, and finally draw the conclusion of the impacts on external insulation of transmission lines, which is influenced by pollution accumulation on insulators in the highway district and the highway-farmland district. This conclusion can be treated as reference basis for operation, maintenance, selection and design of insulators.
