Abstract
An approach for the use of time frequency analysis method using Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD) for the detection of winding deformation during short circuit test is presented. The method is validated through experiments conducted on a specially designed 6.6 kV voltage transformer. Comparison of time frequency analysis approach using WVD and time scale analysis using wavelet transform (WT) with the frequency response analysis method of detecting winding deformation is presented to identify a better signal analysis tool with improved sensitivity of detection.
