Abstract
The authors have developed an efficiency index and excitation map to examine the efficiency and localization characteristics of magnetic stimulation. Coils with few turns are more efficient than coils with large number of turns; coils with small cross-section area are more efficient than coils with larger area. The excitation map of a round coil is double sided, and its area increases with the voltage of stimulator while decreases with the number of turns and the cross-section area of a coil
