Abstract :
In this paper, we describe various methods for calibrating and validating mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) models, outline the difficulties in validating these models, and propose a method for validation via an RF emulator. We describe possible designs of RF emulators and weigh the pros and cons of the competing designs. We describe the types of tests designed for both the simulation environment and the emulator and we describe how to compare the output of these tests to validate the simulation model. We will conclude with a case study in the use of an actual RF emulator to validate aspects of models for DARPA
