Abstract :
The future way for vehicle development extremely depends on the virtual prototyping of vehicles. In order to analyze the nonlinear ride dynamics of vehicles, it is necessary to establish the time domain model of stochastic road irregularity as the excitation to the vehicle system. Based on the mathematical theory of the stochastic process, a time domain model of stochastic road irregularities with arbitrary or specified power spectral density (PSD) was constructed by using inverse fast Fourier transfer (IFFT) method, and the model could be expanded to include the information of both the auto-PSD and the cross-PSD. By using the new modeling approach, the resulting bilateral stochastic processes of a road were correlative in the time domain. A simulation example demonstrates the method efficiently and accurately.
