Abstract
This paper summarizes the research performed under DARPA´s Autonomic Distributed Firewalls (ADF) research project. The summary begins with a review of the motivation and objectives of the ADF. Then the architecture and capabilities of the ADF are described, followed by a summary of the operational and technical evaluations of the ADF. The major result of this project is the fact that the core functionality of the project has been commercialized as the 3Com Embedded Firewall™.
