Abstract
Removal of noise from an image has been studied for decades in the fields of computer vision, signal processing and image processing. Gaussian noise is statistical noise that has a PDF of the normal distribution (also known as Gaussian distribution). In other words, the values that the noise can take are Gaussian-distributed. This model comes into use when all the other noise models fail. This noise can effectively model noises introduced due to factors such as circuit noise, sensor noise, poor illumination and high temperature. We have tried to remove Gaussian noise from high contrast images which have an inherent problem of tone mapping as well by using modified moving average filter which we apply over bit planes of the image.
