Abstract :
New recloser functionality is providing additional flexibility and improving distribution feeder reliability performance. Automated loop sectionalizing schemes, utilizing single-pole tripping and lockout in many cases, permit automatic circuit reconfiguration that minimizes the impact of feeder equipment outages. Communications with line reclosers provide system operators with an improved understanding of system status. Recloser controls provide engineers with additional flexibility, such as the use of a recloser for sectionalizing duty. The application of new recloser functionality for enhanced feeder automation is described.
