Abstract :
Applications of telecommunications and information technology impact many areas of life. Especially telework is an application area which still possesses a large growth potential. It is developing rapidly and today there are already more than 2 million Europeans who practice telework. This paper sums up the results of Internet research on telework activities in Europe. This survey is embedded in the COBIP Project of the European Union (EU). The survey´s aim was to gather up-to-date information about telework-related projects in Europe. After a short historical introduction the actual penetration of telework is analyzed based mainly on Internet research. These analyses will make it possible to predict the near future of telework.
