Abstract :
Ce/sup 3+/:LiLuF/sub 4/ has become the first known all-solid-state tunable UV laser directly pumped by the fifth harmonic of a Nd:YAG laser. Furthermore, we have demonstrated the direct stable generation of single, satellite-free, 880-ps UV pulses under 5-ns, 10-Hz repetition rate pumping conditions.
