  • Abstract
Sensor nodes find wide applications in sensing the environmental variables and sending the information to a base station. Most of the sensor network applications have static nodes. This approach is not suitable in areas where manual deployment of nodes is not possible. Mobile sensor nodes, which can move and deploy themselves, find application in such situations. However, their mobility causes them to spend more energy and die fast. In order to prevent early death and consequent network failure, their mobility must be such that each node has a minimum distance to travel. This travelling distance must be balanced among all the nodes. In addition, the coverage should be uniform. This work proposes a novel method to scan the area using mobile sensor nodes with optimum travelling distance and less coverage overlap.
