Abstract
Protection and metering of a feeder has a crucial role in power systems in terms of protecting the equipments from fault caused damage. A dedicated test facility was developed which generates high voltage and high current signals with the actual magnitudes. The facility can be used for distance protection, protection and metering applications in laboratory rather than using computer generated signals. Protection equipments of a current transformer, a potential transformer and a feeder management relay was used in order to test the facility. A series of actual fault records were analyzed and typical faults for transmission line were regenerated. According to the test results, designated test facility can be used to reproduce high voltages and currents signals, and to investigate the performance of different brands and types of instrument transformers and relays in laboratory.
