Abstract
Interferometry techniques can be effectively applied to nadir looking radar altimeters to allow elevation measurement capability over non-stationary surfaces, such as ice, terrain and coastal lines. The main design criteria of such an instrument are described in the paper and the elevation measurement performance over real-topography scenes are assessed through numerical simulation
