Abstract
DNA vaccines and gene therapy have the potential to overcome several clinical pathologies such as infectious diseases and cancer. The active pharmaceutical ingredient in these therapeutics is plasmid DNA. This work describes the approach taken to develop and characterize adsorption membranes that can be used for membrane chromatography, boosting DNA therapeutics purification by better separation efficiency, increased solute selectivity and improved productivity. The membranes described herein were functionalized with alkyl or oleoyl ligands and these membranes were chemically and operationally characterized and compared with a commercial recently develop membrane for immunoglobulins purification.
