Abstract
This study aims to develop a wound dressing for exudate management, consisting of nano-bioabsorbent composite. Wound dressings are used to protect the wound from contamination or infection and to remove any exudate generated during the healing process. It is intended to develop composite nanofibers through electrospinning technique due this method can be further developed for mass production of one-by-one continuous nanofibers from various polymers. The experiment will be conducted in Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI) and Universidade de Coimbra (UC). In this project will be carried out experimental tests to determine the wound dressing quality, such as fluid-handling tests, low-adherence tests, conformability tests, microbiological tests, odour control tests and biological tests. Since this study has not been implemented, it is expected a wound dressing for a high exudate management able to provide a breakthrough in wound care products.
