Abstract :
The DVB-T2 standard is a very flexible system with a wide range of adjustable parameters. Moreover, within its main profile, another specification is defined, marked as DVB-T2-Lite. It is based on the same digital TV (DTV) system as the DVB-T2, but is more oriented on the mobile and portable TV scenarios. This paper deals with exploration of the DVB-T2-Lite profile using spatial diversity technique. A mobile scenario is considered, represented by Bad Urban and Rural Area fading channel models with 6 independent echo paths. Possible impact of the rotated constellation technique on the DVB-T2-Lite multimedia system performance is explored as well. The overall performance of the T2-Lite profile is evaluated on its physical layer level, based on the dependences of bit error rate before LDPC decoding, modulation error rate on the carrier-to-noise ratio (C/N). Results quantify the extent to which transmit diversity improves reception performance in terms of C/N required for Quasi Error-Free operation in DVB-T2-Lite.
