Abstract :
By the image method and superposition principle, a simple theoretical model was established to calculate the current-carrying capacity of XLPE cables installed in pipes on several cases. Testing was made to verify the values from the model on some cases. The difference between theoretical calculation and measurement is about 2% accuracy. The result showed that the model is appropriate, and the research lays a theoretical foundation to calculating the current capacity of XLPE cables installed in pipes.
