Abstract :
With the rapid spread of the light emitting diode (LED), visible light communication (VLC) is becoming an emerging wireless communication technology. VLC offers advantageous properties such as safety, environmental protection, worldwide availability and high capacity. It can be used as an effective supplement of the existing wireless communication. Power line communication (PLC) using the omnipresent power line cables in driving LED also can be used as a communication medium between the LEDs and other network. It only requires little modification of the existing infrastructure to achieve the purpose of illumination and communication simultaneously. In this paper, we propose an efficient and low-cost indoor broadband broadcasting system based on the integration of PLC and VLC. The proposed system take full advantages of existing cabling infrastructure, providing high-speed communications while achieving better signal coverage. The performance is evaluated and analyzed with a three-LED lamp network based on the proposed system.
