Abstract :
In this paper the characteristics of a 2-D (two-dimension) radar image of wire and the detection characteristics of multi-wire are examined. The detection of closely located multi-wire could suffer from the mutual scattering effect between the reflected signals of each wire. For a wire-like target, a unique characteristic of the radar image due to its physical shape is expected. The deterioration of the radar image of wire could be caused by the mutual scattering when the wires are closely placed. High-resolution radar images of multi-wire are obtained by use of 27 GHz ISAR (inverse synthetic aperture radar). For the experiment three types of wires according to their diameter (φ=11 mm, 16 mm, 22 mm) are used and that consist of two or three twisted copper wires inside plastic. Through the experiment results it is examined that closely located multi-wire can be recognized in spite of the deep blur effect which is caused by the defect of the image reconstruction algorithm. Reflection characteristics, such as a small RCS (radar cross section), due to its physical shape and mutual scattering effect could behave as an obstacle for detection of multi-wire
