Abstract
This paper presents a hybrid intelligent approach to a production scheduling problem in FMS. An FMS scheduling system is modelled as a four-level simultaneous decision-making problem. The genetic algorithm and simulation approaches are integrated to seek efficiently the best combination of dispatching rules in order to obtain an appropriate production schedule under specific performance measures
