Abstract
By embedding shorting vias, a wideband dual-frequency L-probe coupled patch antenna array with dual orthogonal polarization is presented. This array achieves two broad operating bands, which cover 0.82-0.96GHz and 1.71-2.17GHz, with a return loss less than -14dB. Across both passbands, a high isolation of more than 30dB is measured between two polarizations. Besides, this array provides flexible frequency ratio and stable radiation patterns. Due to its wide bandwidth and high performance, the proposed antenna array is highly suitable for base station antenna for almost all modern wireless communication applications, including CDMA, GSM, PHS, DCS and UMTS.
