Abstract :
Describes some aspects of the design of a medical instrument for hearing assessment, using a multimedia sound board. The instrument measures otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) by means of virtual instrumentation. It was implemented in LabVIEW, a graphically based language for virtual instrumentation. The link between a high quality, but relatively inexpensive sound board, and LabVIEW made possible a cost effective medical instrument for research and clinical practice
