Abstract
The authors have developed a protocol permitting an implant to recuperate safely the data and clock information coming from external controllers over a noisy link. A conventional forward error correction (FEC) technique has been employed and a novel implementation has been proposed. Using a FEC technique the correction procedure is performed without retransmission. The presented protocol provides wireless communications for an implantable bladder stimulator and can be used for any implantable prosthesis. The proposed architecture has been designed using CMOS 1.2 μm technology and occupies 0.29 mm2 of silicon area
