Abstract :
A unique facility to measure the electric conductivity and permittivity of fluids over a large range of temperature and pressure has been developed. The facility has been tested over a temperature range of 210 K to 350 K and a pressure range of 50 micron vacuum to 4.2 MPa. Electrical property data obtained with this new facility compare well with limited data available in literature. This facility will be used to measure the electrical properties of new alternative refrigerants and various hydrocarbons to understand how the electrohydrodynamic phenomena enhances heat transfer and how to optimally design an electrohydrodynamically augmented thermal device
