  • Abstract
    A significant commercial opportunity exists for MEMS in the form of a silicon spatial light modulator (SLM) suitable for both digital display and digital printing applications. The Digital Micromirror Device/sup TM/ (DMD/sup TM/) SLM has been under development at Texas Instruments since 1987, and is the core component of TI\´s Digital Light Processing/sup TM/ (DLP/sup TM/) businesses. This paper covers the benefits of DLP in digital color printers capable of producing "photorealistic" quality on plain paper, quickly and inexpensively.
