Abstract :
We present a novel type of ring cladding photonic crystal fibers with a highly nonlinear coefficient, short zero dispersion wavelength and low confinement loss. The proposed fibers have comparatively large size of design parameters to fulfil the fabrication need. Analysis results show that the nonlinearity coefficient of this ring cladding photonic crystal fibers is greater than 38 w-1 km-1 and the confinement loss is less than 0.1dB/km when the wavelength range is from 500 to 1500nm. At the zero dispersion wavelength 800nm, the nonlinear coefficient is 90 w-1 km-1, and it can achieve to 156 w-1 km-1 at 500nm.
