Abstract :
By applying dynamic reconfiguration to reconfigurable nodes in a sensor network, parts of their hardware functionality may be adapted at runtime. However, a complex challenge is the dynamic distribution of configurations in a heterogeneous network. This work advocates a novel reconfiguration infrastructure for FPGA-based sensor networks. Configuration requests may be triggered by nodes themselves, remotely by other nodes, or via a web interface. The main advantages of the solution are a fully decentralized communication infrastructure, the generic structure of sensor nodes as well as a dynamic adaptation of both size and functionality of a heterogeneous sensor network at runtime.
