Abstract
Industrial robots can be significant factors in the improvement of productivity, quality, profitability, and competitive strength of a company. The author examines the following approaches to enhance robotic implementation: communicating with organized labor; establishing a robotics team; understanding robotic technology; familiarity with commercially available equipment; manufacturing operations and process knowledge; detailed engineering design; building the system; preinstallation activities; system monitoring; and cost/benefit analysis.<>
