Abstract
Business continuity planning has long been separated from day to day data center operations within the federal government. Since the beginning of the federal mandates for continuity of operations IT departments have treated is as a forced requirement and sought only to do the minimum required. This paper examines what good business continuity planning requires and how integrating it with day to day data center operations can improve mission application availability and customer satisfaction
