  • Abstract
With the Shuttle Radar Topography Mapper (SRTM) mission the generation of high-quality digital elevation models (DEMs) and geocoded terrain corrected amplitude images (GTCs) is envisaged. In this mission, which is scheduled for September 1999 on the NASA Space Shuttle, single-pass interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data will be acquired and processed. The German Aerospace Center DLR will process, archive and distribute the data delivered by the X-band system X-SAR. In preparation for this mission DLR´s Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) has implemented an InSAR processing chain for the derivation of DEMs and GTCs. This system is used already for the generation of interferometric products from ERS1/2 tandem pair data. The increasing number of generated products causes the need of standardized visualization methods for presentation purposes. The authors describe achievements at DFD concerning the visualization of interferometric data sets such as fringe, coherence and amplitude images as well as digital elevation models and height error maps
