Abstract :
In this paper, the Poynting analysis of electromagnetic (EM) energy leakage of substrate integrated wave-guide (SIW) due to periodic gaps is investigated for the first time. By EM simulation, Poynting flowing through the sidewalls is extracted to describe the EM energy leakage characteristics of the SIW. With this method, not only SIW, but also other multi-layer microwave integrated circuits with EM energy leakage can be studied.
