Abstract :
A broadband microstrip-to-coplanar waveguide transition (CPW) is proposed in this paper. The ground shaping technique, which emphasizes the field matching, is employed in our proposed design. The shape of the backed ground plane varies gradually which can result in a smooth field transition. Simulation results are presented and they show that the transition can achieve a broad bandwidth. This transition can be very useful in various applications due to its compatibility with RF system-on-a chip, low loss performance, low cost and ease of fabrication.
