Abstract
An approach to modeling the EMP response of a representative ground-based communication facility and its associated electronics is presented. This facility will possess HF, UHF, and VHF communications as well as microwave and K u-band telecommunications. Antennas will be placed on the roof of the building and also in a deployed configuration through patch panels located at the bulkhead of the facility. The bulkhead of the facility will be designed for 60 dB to 80 dB of attenuation in the EMP spectra through the use of transient protection devices, waveguide beyond cutoff, shielding, etc. The EMP threat used to investigate the response of this facility is similar to the classical EMP waveform as defined in MIL-STD-461C, requirement RS05
