Abstract
For controlling anal incontinence, the new artificial anal sphincter system (AASS) with sensor feedback based on transcutaneous energy transmission is developed. The implanted components are powered by a transcutaneous transformer, which is formed from a pair of concave/convex cores. This design minimizes lateral motion of the external core. A Class-E power amplifier is chosen to drive the transmitter coil due to its high efficiency, the supply voltage of the Class-E amplifier is adjusted by a Class-E power controller. The experiment results demonstrate the artificial anal sphincter system can control anal incontinence effectively.
