Abstract :
A time-domain approach for analyzing the near field/far field characteristics of a large planar array of radiating elements printed on a multilayered dielectric medium is described. The transmission line modeling method with a time-domain version of the periodic and absorptive boundary condition combined with an equivalent source formulation serves as the basis of this approach. The method can be widely applied in determining the input near field and the far radiated field of planar arrays for nonsinusoidal time variation. Inter-element interactions are properly taken into account. Special near field performance such as the peak power handling capability of the array can also be determined by this method
