Abstract
Capability of vacuum interrupters to extinguish short arcs burned up in the vicinity of current zero has been experimentally estimated for different vacuum interrupters, range of currents (12.5 - 31.kA rms) and TRV (according 12 kV - 24 kV rated voltages). For three-phase vacuum circuit breaker in a circuit with isolated neutral it has been demonstrated that there is an influence of unsuccessful extinction of short arcs on the arc durations for the first interrupted pole and two last poles.
