Abstract
In the frame of the EC Environment and Climate Programme project, SIBERIA, an extensive forest map for a part of Siberia will be produced using state-of-the art satellite data and remote sensing techniques. Among other sensors the JERS SAR will be used. In this contribution important steps in the JERS processing is discussed, including radiometric calibration, geocoding, and fine registration to ERS data. In addition, a preliminary comparison of the registered ERS and JERS σ° values is presented
