Abstract :
In order to model bitemporal databases using well-known Entity-Relationship methods, and reduce the data redundancy caused by repeatedly storing temporal-irrelevant attributes, this paper will discuss the classification of objects according to temporal stability, define the temporal constant and variable ones, employ bitemporal time labels consistent with BCDM´s to express temporal data, and describe entities, attributes, and relationships from the viewpoint of temporal stability. Then a new model, named ER-BCDM is presented, its graphical elements, and rules about constructing and transforming to BCDM are given as well.
