Abstract :
This paper describes a power loss analysis of a proposed tapped-inductor buck converter which suitable for home DC power supply system. A laboratory prototype of a coin size (34mm × 26mm × 5mm) with DC 48V input to 1.2V/30A output was built and tested to verify the accuracy of the loss analysis. As a result, about 90% efficiency under middle and heavy load region can be achieved at 500kHz switching frequency.
