Abstract :
Two electro-optical sensors (EOS) are proposed in this paper, which can be applied to measure simultaneously the velocity, impact position, azimuth, and elevation of a flying object. The basic components include vacuum phototube with a large sensitive area, multiple slots diaphragm, and standard optical lens. The N-shaped and ´III´-shaped light screens can be achieved by different slot diaphragms. The measuring system works in conjunction with a data acquisition device and a microprocessor-based controller. The motion parameters of the flying object can be measured with two complete identical sensors, which are placed on the 3-D trajectory in an orthogonal intersection manner. The mechanical and optical structures and the measuring principle are introduced in detail by measuring formulae in this paper. The EOS, designed in the paper, can be used in proving grounds to measure simultaneously the velocity, the impact position, and the angle-of-arrival of the flying object.
