Abstract
This paper examines the suitability of DECT (Digital European Cordless Telecommunication Standards) standard for local loop in rural applications. The features and significance of DECT standard and ifs applicability for local loop applications in rural areas have been highlighted. A DECT-WLL reference model by combining DECT technology with D-MARR systems to provide a cost-effective rural radio local loop solution namely Wireless Rural Radio Local Loop (WR2L2 ) is reported. The proposed model of the radio link and range estimation are explained
